Today, we got to go up to the Art Room to learn how to make a mosaic with a real mosaic artist. We learned that a mosaic is a picture made out of little pieces of tile. Dimitry showed us different mosaics that he made. There was a cute puppy mosaic and another one of a person. We thought it was pretty cool.
First, Dimitry showed us how to cut the tiles with a tile cutter and a tile nipper. The tile cutter made a scratching sound. We thought it was magic how the tiles broke so easy!
Then we worked in teams to practice putting little pieces of tile onto brown paper. Dimitry said we had to take our time and to be PATIENT. We had to leave spaces between the tiles.
When we were all done, Dimitry put masking tape all over. We got to push the tape onto the tiles. He picked it up and showed us how he would glue it to the wall.
