Mondrian + Mice + Mixing = Masterpiece

This week, we have been learning about colour.  We know that red, yellow, and blue are the three primary colours.  Also, we looked at Piet Mondrian's paintings, and we noticed that he used the primary colours.  We were inspired and made our own Mondrian paintings. Everyone thought the lines made it look like a big maze.

First we made lines and shapes (squares and rectangles) using black tape.

Then we painted with the primary colours.

We also read a story called Mouse Paint.  In the story, three little mice find jars of red, yellow and blue paint.  They splash around in the paint and make the three secondary colours. (Purple, green and orange) We thought it would be fun if we made our own mice and they ran around on our "Mazes" and turned into the secondary colours.

We sculpted three mice out of Model Magic.  Look at the concentration!

Then we mixed up some paint and painted our mice.

When the mice were dry, we glued them to our Mondrian paintings.  They turned out GREAT!
