After spending time reading stories, turning our house centre into a gingerbread house, designing milk carton gingerbread houses and experimenting with gingerbread, it was time to bake real cookies to eat.
With the help of two wonderful volunteers, everyone rolled, cut out and decorated their very own delicious gingerbread cookie. We were so excited about finally getting to make real cookies that we forgot to tell our helpers to not peek in the oven and to make sure no one else did either!
With the smell of gingerbread filling the school, we went back to the kitchen, opened the oven door, only to find our cookies were GONE! We couldn't believe our eyes!! The only thing we found was a clue in the shape of a gingerbread man!
After some quick thinking and team work, we were able to decipher the clues. The clues had us running all over the school only to find our cookies safe in our classroom. We enjoyed every last bite of the cookies, but couldn't figure out who would have opened the oven and let the cookies escape?
Everyone had a different theory of who it might have been and fingers were pointed at almost everyone in the school. We looked at all the clues again and retraced our steps in case we missed something.
After a little more than a week, one final piece of evidence came to light.... and this is how we finally solved our Gingerbread Mystery!.
The Morning Class
The Afternoon Class
After we figured out who it was, we went to show them our evidence. We handed the book to the culprit to read. She played it cool the whole time...

As soon as she turned to the last page, she knew it was over. There she was, eating a gingerbread cookie with a glass of milk. She was caught red-handed!! Mrs.Rogala was the one who took our cookies!

To stop this from happening again, we gave Mrs. Rogala a special kindergarten signed cookie jar filled with cookies. This way she will have her own and won't need to take ours!!

Mystery Solved!
