Maisie, Ms. Dowd's dog, was running around in the backyard while a fence was being built. Maisie got something sharp stuck in her paw and had to go to the Vet to get it removed. The Vet said that she had to wear a cone to ensure she would not bite or lick her bandaged paw. After seeing and hearing about Maisie, we were inspired to create our own Vet Clinic.
When Mrs. Mitchell and Ms. Bachelor heard the news, they couldn't wait to help! They brought in a few stuffed toys and more animal costumes when they came for the Grand Opening. The adults put on a skit to show us what it would look and sound like in a Vet Clinic.
Ms. Dowd took a sick Beaver and a Loon to the Vet. She checked in at reception desk. The Receptionist asked some questions about each animal. |
| Once the forms were filled out, Ms Dowd and the animals went in to see the Vet. |
| Vet Mitchell carefully gave each animal a check up. She asked lots of questions and explained everything she was doing so we would know exactly what we could do when we went to play. |
After watching the adults skit, we worked in small groups. There were four different activities that focused in on different aspect of the Vet Clinic.
Ms. Dowd helped us role play being the Vet and showed us how to fill out the vet forms.
Mrs. Mitchell brought a Vet play set from home and we practised using lots of language you would need to work at the Vet.
Ms. Bachelor played a game where we practised asking questions and giving clues.
And Mrs. Dale had us practise using the cash register and to write receipts.
After we went to each centre, it was time to play! We had such a great time taking care of our stuffies and dressing up like the animals!
