Colour Fun!

Over the past few weeks we have been learning about colour.  We learned:

Natalie and Trent - The primary colours are Red, Yellow and Blue

Braedan/ Ryan - If you mix red and blue you get purple.

Maddox - If you mix yellow and blue you get green.

Ajay - If you mix red and yellow you get orange.

Dominic and Charlotte - White makes it light.

Jaydon and Edelaine - All the primary colours make brown.

Maddy and Eirrah- Black makes it darker.

Liam/Braedan -  Black and white makes gray

Kael and Sarah - The secondary colours are orange green and purple.

Blake  - There are 3 secondary colors

And this is what we have been busy doing:

We learned about shades and tints by adding black and white to red.

We used the three primary colours to make our own version of Wassily Kandinsky's Colour study painting.  We were super proud of all the colours we learned to make.

Mrs. L helped us make our very own colour wheels.

We became colour scientists!  First we had to make a prediction or guess of what we thought would happen when we mixed two primary colours together.  Then we got to test out our predictions by using eye droppers and coloured water.  We loved mixing up all the secondary colours!

We used our colour wheels and learned about complementary colours.  We called them colour"friends."  We took the idea of 3 from the story Godilocks and the Three Bears.  First we drew three items in the primary colours, and then we drew three items in the secondary colours. (Bowls, beds, chairs, spoons, etc)  After we finished our drawings, we painted the background of each square the complementary colour.
