Building Rockets

If you walked into the kindergarten room today you would have seen a huge pile of boxes, paper tubes, tape and containers.  You would have also seen students completely engaged and concentrating hard!  Our challenge was for each student to design and build their own rocket.  As a class, we came up with criteria (or rules) that had to be followed while completing the building process.

1.  Must look like a rocket
2.  Must stay together
3.  Must have decorations
4.  Must have your name
5.  Must be of medium size

It was very interesting to watch and listen to the student hard at work.  Students knew exactly how their  rocket should look. Some student were even giving pointers to their friends! We also learned that tape is a little tricky to work with, but with a little patience, it all works out in the end!
