Peace and Remembrance Day

This week we having been learning about Peace and Remembrance Day.  First we read the story A Poppy is to Remember.  We were all very serious and asked a lot of good questions.  We were very sad that some people and soldiers had to die to keep us safe.  We are very happy that we have Peace in Canada now.

To show that we remember all the brave soldiers, we painted poppies on coffee filters to make a class wreath that we will display at our Remembrance Day service.

We learned that a dove is a symbol of peace. First we wrote the word PEACE on a white card. Then we each made our own dove by dipping our finger into paint and gently dabbing the colours onto a paper.  After we finished our own doves, we worked together to make a class Peace Dove.  We think our doves are beautiful!

We read another story called The Peace Book.  This book gave us lots of great ideas about what peace is. We liked it so much we wanted to write our own book about what Peace means to us.  Here is our book.
