Over the past few days, I have been at a very inspiring conference learning some very exciting things that I can't wait to sure with my students. While I was busy learning, the kindergartens were hard at work in the classroom. Ms. Buscemi told me how great the kids have been and that she was very impressed with how well they all worked at their math centers.
Center 1 - We had to pick out a dinosaur egg from a basket, open it up and read the number. Then we had to write the number and colour the correct amount of dots on a ten frame to represent that number. If we got the same number twice, we had to pick a different egg.
Center 2 - At this center we had to first count out ten dinosaur counters. Once we had ten, we had to break the big group into two smaller groups. We then counted how many dinosaurs were in each little group. We had to record our findings by cutting out numbers and gluing them onto our ten circle. (4 and 6....9 and 1...8 and 2 etc) It was a little tricky because we had to use all the numbers on the sheet. We are working really hard at learning all the different ways to make ten.
Center 3 - At the dino dinner center we had to pick two dinosaur cards that were the same colour. Then we had to count how many dots were on each of them.(Some had dots, while others had ten frames) We recorded our answers and then made a < or > sign in the middle to show which was more or less.

I am very impressed with how well you all do with math and what a great way to learn by having the dinosaur math centers! Good job Kinders!!
