Dinosaurs and Details

This week we have started to learn all about dinosaurs.  We have read many books about dinosaurs this week, but one of our favourites is If the Dinosaurs Came Back written by Bernard Most.  When we read the book we noticed that the dinosaurs had colour, but the backgrounds didn't.  All the backgrounds were drawn in black a white.  We thought this was pretty cool and wanted to make our own page just like in the book.

First we created our own dinosaur out of colourful construction paper.  Since we are just beginning our dinosaur study, we looked at pictures in books to get ideas for our drawings.  It was great to see how much time the students were taking when looking at the pictures and drawing their own.  They really paid close attention to all the details.

  

Next we re-read the book If the Dinosaurs Came Back and really looked at all the backgrounds.  We noticed that there were lots of different kids of lines and lots of detail in all the pictures.  We tried very hard to add just as many details as we saw in the book.
