Bears in a Boat

Today we were given a super fun challenge.  We had to work with a partner and build a boat that would hold teddy bear counters.  First we picked numbers out of a basket to see who was going to be working together.  Then we were given the materials to use. Everyone got one piece of tin foil, a piece of wax paper, a long piece of poster paper and a half sheet of paper. We could make a boat however we wanted. It was also decided that we needed tape to make our creations. The only catch was we had to work with our partners and make sure everyone was happy and getting a turn.

Here is what we had to say about working in partners:

John - It was awesome

Drayson - It was hard because I wanted to do my ideas, but I had to try and talk to my partner.

Hannah - It was fun working with a partner.

Jessica - I liked it.  It was good.

Loralai-  I liked having fun with my friend.

Kalil - It was easy to work with my partner.

Cara - We talked and we said yes.

Alex S.  I liked decorating together.

After all the boats were finished, we tested each one out in our water table.  We had to put the bear counters in one at a time so we could count to see how many bears it would hold before the boat sank.  

Here is what we had to say about our boat building experience:

Alex U - It was fun because we got to put bears in and make our boat sink.

Gabriel H. - It was awesome.  I got to make it with my friend.

Tristan R. - We only wanted to use little bears because they have less weight.  We had to put the bears on both sides so the boat didn't tip over.

Mathew - The tin foil worked the best.  The paper got all soggy.

Tajha - I liked it because we got the walls to stay up on our boat.

Jaxon - We used walls so the water doesn't get in.

Louie - I'm sad that my boat didn't hold more.

Hudson - I am so happy that my boat held lots of bears.
