Remembrance Day

This week we have been discussing Remembrance Day and Peace. We started our learning by reading A Poppy is to Remember.  Everyone had lots of good questions and was making connections to the story.  We learned that we wear a poppy to remember all the brave people who help keep Canada safe. (Past and Present)

We each got to make special remembrance day piece of art that said "We will Remember them."

After we attended the Remembrance Day Service, the morning class had a few things to share:

Lucas and Evelyn-  I liked all the songs.

Zti- I liked the soldiers.

Caroline - I liked laying the wreaths.

Mackenzie - I liked the singing.

Chantel -  I liked when I walked down with the poppies we made.

This is what the afternoon class had to say about Remembrance Day:

Mattejas - We have a ceremony.

Seth -  When you know about someone who died in the war.

Hannah -  We wear poppies.

Wyatt - There was a war.

Jordyn - The people fought in the war.

William - Canada is in peace.

Cohen - We are thankful for the people who helped Canada.

This week we have also discussed what Peace is.  We did a lot of brainstorming as a class and then we each got to write down one idea.  We hope you enjoy.  What does peace mean to you?
