The Pigeon

We are still loving Mo Willems books!  This week we really enjoyed reading and learning about The Pigeon series.  As we were reading, we noticed that he uses speech bubbles to show what the characters are saying.  We decided to have a little fun and take a picture with our own speech bubbles.

What is wonderful about Mo Willems books, is that his pictures are very simple and easy to learn how to draw.  That is what we did.  Everyone learned how to draw The Pigeon following step by step instructions.

First we drew The Pigeon with a sharpie

Then we painted him blue and then painted the background

We also talked a lot about the stories and about noticed that The Pigeon wanted a lot of things.  We made a list  on the Smart Board of things that the Pigeon Needs and things that he Wants.

Another thing we noticed while reading The Pigeon books is that Mo Willems will often put four pictures on the same page.  We called these Mo Boxes.  We used what we have learned about The Pigeon to make our very own Mo Boxes.  We even have started to add our own speech bubbles to our drawings just like Mo Willems does!
