We put our name on a Chicka Chicka Boom Boom tree with stickers and counted the letters. Everyone is getting very good at using their tripod grip when colouring and writing.
We rolled out play dough and formed numbers. Then we added the same amount of coconuts to our trees.
Some students explored with the magnet letters and numbers. They put the numbers in order, spelled their names and and even sorted the letters.
We used the smart board to search for all the different letters. We had a good time putting the alphabet in order as we sang the song.
We have also been doing a lot of talking about names. Often you will hear. "That one (letter) is in my name." We each got a paper that had the first letter of our name on it. Our job was to make it the most beautiful letter we could. After we finished decorating our letters with stickers, bingo dabbers, crayons, paper and markers we had to cut it out. We wanted to see everyones letters so we created another class book. Now we can practise reading all the first letters of our friends names.
