Leaf Man

This week we have been reading many different stories about leaves, trees and fall. One of the books we read was called Leaf Man, by Lois Ehlert.  As we read this story, we noticed that all the pictures were made up of leaves.  Since we had already collected many leaves, we decided to make our own Leaf Man book.  Each student had to decide where the wind would blow their leaf person.  We hope you enjoy our books.

We have also been working on some beautiful fall art.  Yesterday we glued orange, yellow and red tissue paper squares onto a paper.

Today we learned how to draw an oak leaf.  First we practised on the little white boards.  We had to follow step by step directions. It took a couple tries, but everyone was able to draw their own leaf.

Next we drew one last leaf on our fall coloured paper from yesterday.  After, we cut out our leaves. This took a lot of concentration...and a little help from the adults in the room.

We wanted the leaves to look like they were blowing in the wind just like our leaf people.  We used chalk pastels and made wind or swirls of blue, green, white and purple.  The final touch was to glue on our leaves.
