# 1. It was interesting watching the students try and count all the pumpkins. Everyone wanted to go first and it was hard to concentrate. We decided it would be better if we all counted together as a team. We also practised moving the pumpkins to the side so we would know which ones we already counted.
# 2. Our next job was to put the pumpkins in order from biggest to smallest. This also took some team work. At first, everyone wanted to hold onto their pumpkin and not let it go. We then learned that we need to work together and compare the different sizes. Once we started talking to our friends, we were able to make a line of pumpkins from biggest to smallest.
# 3. To measure our pumpkins we had to work with a buddy because it was too tricky to hold everything you needed by yourself. We used a measuring tape and measured around each pumpkin. It was great to see such good co-operation between students. After we measured, we wrote down our numbers on a sticky note.
#4. Next we had to weigh our pumpkins on a scale. We tried to weigh all the pumpkins, but had most luck with the bigger ones.
#5. The last job we did was to see if our pumpkins would float or sink. We took a tally before we put the pumpkins in water so we could predict what would happen. We were very surprised to see that all pumpkins float no matter how big or small they are.
Here is what some of us were thinking today:
Morning Class
Chantel - I learned that pumpkins float.
Jesse - I learned pumpkin fun.
Mikey - All the pumpkins are almost wet.
Zti - Putting the pumpkins in the water was funny.
Zeida - There are lots of big pumpkins.
Everyone said: It was hard to put the pumpkins in order from biggest to smallest. We didn't know which one went first. We had to use our eyes to tell which one was biggest to smallest.
We liked floating them the best!
Afternoon Class
Seth - Pumpkins can float.
Hannah - Pumpkins can be different colours.
Atley - I liked when they all floated.
Robert - I liked when I decorated the front of the Smartboard.
Wyatt - I liked stirring the pumpkins.
William - I liked pretending to carve the pumpkins in house corner.
Kylie - I think seeds are going to be inside them.
Mattejas - I learned the sizes by measuring.

I liked your pumpkin lesson. It is interesting to see how each one followed instructions and had their own comment on what they liked. From Ms.Dowds Mom
