Pumpkin Fun - Day 2

Today was Pumpkin Carving Madness! Before we got to the carving, Miss B, our student teacher had some fun math activities planned.  We had to make some guesses or predictions about the height of our pumpkins, how many lines were on the outside of our pumpkins and finally how many seeds were inside.

Here we are measuring our pumpkins with blocks.

Next we counted the lines on our pumpkins.

Everyone got a turn to help cut the top off the pumpkin so we could take out the "guts" and the seeds.

We started to count the pumpkin seeds and got all the way to 100!  There were a lot more seeds but we ran out of time.  We had to save enough time to carve a face.  Everyone decided together what shape the jack-o-lanterns eyes, nose and mouth would be.

Here are all of our fabulous jack-o-lanterns complete with crazy hair!
